The scabbard is black, made of traditional lacquered wood, and features several metallic ornaments on its far end. The blade has also been given prominent temper lines. The hamon featured is a kawazuko choji or tadpole head clove flower styled hamon as similar to those found on blades historically made by Osafune Nagamitsu. The tsukamaki handle has pattern closer to a real katana, giving it the traditional diamond shape in the negative space. In Devil May Cry 5, the Yamato has been given a renovation. The inside and back of Nero's Devil Bringer mimic the design of the blade's hilt. The blade features several intricate ornaments, most notable is a relief of a dragon at the endpoint of the hilt and with an ornate bronze guard with dragon motifs. In later installments, the guard is an oval, and the tsuka-ito seems to be braided from white and dark blue material. To do so, he needed half of his mother's amulet from Dante, so he lured his brother out with the intention of taking it by force. Throughout the game, Vergil seeks to undo Sparda's seal within the Temen-ni-gru and claim the full power of his father for himself, regardless of the effects this will have on the human world. After Arkham betrays him at the end of the game's second act (the end of mission 13), he temporarily teams up with Dante near the end, before reverting to his villainous role. He is a main antagonist in Devil May Cry 3, as well as a playable character in the Special Edition of the game.
